Vera Owens: I chose to come here
I chose to come here because I was ill
and I needed help
This seemed like a nice place to recover,
I’m still recovering following yet another accident
It’s only been three months
and they say it will take six
But I’m not willing to give up that much time
I want to get well before that.

I lived in a desert in Eastern Washington
and I mean it was hot there
It would get up to 100° every single day
and there was no rain between spring and fall
It was a breadbasket
There was lots of farming, lots of produce
At least here you get a breath of air
here, with the changing climate
it’s easier to heal
This is a good place to recover.
